Poseidon rebreather gets technical
Recreational-use CCR can be upgraded for technical depths
The recreational Poseidon Discovery Mk6 rebreather can now be upgraded for use at greater depths.
The Swedish manufacturer has announced a new programme for software and hardware upgrades of the unit.
For owners, there will be a choice of three key upgrades: 40M Deco, 45M Trimix and 60M Trimix.
Up to now, the Discovery had a strict depth limit of 40 metres, designating it a ‘recreational use’ rebreather.
Poseidon says it is launching the tech upgrade programme for two key reasons. Firstly, all existing and future Discovery Mk6 owners should be able to ‘expand the performance range (of their unit) beyond the recreational envelope, should they wish to do so.’
Poseidon also wants to enable dive instructors to teach both recreational and technical courses using its rebreather.
All current Mk6 users will be able to upgrade their unit. Upgrade pricing and availability will be announced at the DEMA trade show in November, along with certification levels required for each upgrade.
