Recall for DUI Weight system

Potential release failure prompts manufacturer recall

Dive gear manufacturer DUI is recalling two of its weight systems after identifying a potential fault.

The recall only affects DUI Weight & Trim Classic and DUI Weight & Trim II harness systems, purchased since July 2010 with grey handles.

Like most quick release systems, the DUI ones are designed around a cable lanyard locking system that should dump weights when pulled.

However, some of the units have the wrong length of cable, meaning they may not detach as designed.

DUI says no incidents have been reported but is advising anyone who owns one against taking these weight systems into the water.

Owners should e-mail CustomerService@DUI-Online.com to receive appropriate instructions.

It’s worth noting that weight systems shipped after April 20th this year with yellow handles or with grey handles AND a large silver stripe are not affected.
