Wittering Divers of West Sussex is to cease trading, the company has announced.

As well as running a dive shop, Wittering Divers also offered PADI dive training and RYA powerboat courses.

The outfit had been in operating for many years, developing a small team of skilled staff.

With two boats, Wittering was also a key charter outfit for diving sites off the Sussex and Hampshire coast.

A two-day fire sale was held over the weekend to shift unsold stock and spare equipment.

Wittering Divers is the second south coast outfit to shut down in 2011, signifying a worrying period for the sport in the UK.
