Richard Salter, author of the new Gozo and Comino book

The latest book from dive specialist publisher Dived Up is a highly detailed guide to diving the Maltese islands of Gozo and Comino.

Diving Gozo & Comino: The essential guide to an underwater playground’ by Richard Salter was released this week, and should prove popular with UK divers who are familiar with Malta.

diving here is consistently voted amongst the best in Europe

Situated adjacent to and just a short ferry ride from Malta, Gozo has a multitude of underwater attractions. As a big limestone rock it has more than its fair share of breathtaking caves, tunnels, wrecks, reefs and bays.

Throw in marine life and good visibility and it is not hard to understand why diving here is consistently voted amongst the best in Europe.

Comino is the small uninhabited island situated between Malta and Gozo, and is a popular diving and snorkelling spot.

Richard Salter is aptly-named, for a sea diver: he’s also a vastly experienced resident instructor and guide.

His new book covers a huge 57 dives on Gozo and 14 on Comino. Original site maps include suggested routes, the location of underwater caves and swim-throughs, depth and features. It includes both shore and boat dives, as well as some sites which are very rarely explored.

Interestingly, a chapter of the book underwent an eleventh-hour re-write following the collapse of the iconic Azure Window at Dwejra in March 2017. Unperturbed, Richard has dived the site since and included new swim-throughs and shallower parts, which make it accessible to more divers.

The book is available now in paperback from Divedup.com, online and from retailers, priced £16.95.
